Founded in 1989, Historia naturalis bulgarica is a peer-reviewed international journal published by the National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
We publish primarily scientific contributions on mineralogy, palaeontology, botany, zoology, as well as original articles on history of natural sciences and natural history institutions.
In the period before 2018 the majority (65.6%) of papers published consisted of research articles.
Almost two-thirds of these appeared in English, but also in Bulgarian, French, German, Russian.
Other types include short notes, “personalia†(biographies, anniversaries), news articles, book reviews.
Currently, research articles form the entire content and are all published in English.
