Aims & Scope
Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean, is right at the heart of that sea, on the shores of which the main civilisations of the ancient world developed.
A certain stopping place along both the east-west and north-south routes, an intersection of goods, people and culture since prehistory, a land overflowing with natural resources – all through antiquity and beyond, Sicily has been playing a role that matches its geographical position at the centre of the Mediterranean. «Sicilia antiqua» aims at highlighting for the whole world the often under appreciated central role that Sicily played in ancient times, mostly through an archaeological approach to problems; but it also aims at giving space to valuable essays covering all branches of classical studies, from the history of art to the history of religions, from prehistory to late antiquity.
