Aims & Scope
Replay. The Polish Journal of Game Studies is a journal devoted to interdisciplinary studies on games and game audiences. We publish original research results from various perspectives, including cultural, sociological and philosophical, with particular emphasis on the history of digital games.
The journal covers topics such as the development and transformations of the video game medium, phenomena and practices accompanying participation in the game, processes taking place during the interaction between the game and the player, methodology of research on digital games, and case studies showing the specificity of mechanical and stylistic solutions. The journal also explores the importance of games to today's culture, including the issue of narration of games, reflection on the functioning of virtual space, the importance of the user interface, the transmediality of genres, the reception of the aesthetics of games and their artistic dimension.
The aim of the journal is to create a common, universal language for researchers of digital games that could be used by everyone, regardless of the discipline they represent. The journal aims to develop and popularize knowledge about games, both in theoretical (interdisciplinary and specialized) and practical (innovative solutions) context, as well as to be a specific forum for expressing opinions on games and presenting and disseminating the results of empirical research in this field.
