Aims & Scope

Nordic Journal of Social Research is a multidisciplinary, open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high quality papers from social, cultural, psychological, political and economic research.

Based on issues related to the Nordic welfare model, we expand our concern to include research from a larger Nordic region.

The journal welcomes contributions with focuses such as the tensions in developing and securing viability of welfare structures; social integration issues; diversity and mobility; gender and identity politics; policy development and innovation; life-span opportunities with respect to security and inequality, and questions that relate to various kinds of immigration.

By publishing articles that present new empirical data, endeavors to advance theoretical development, enhance the discussion of policy implications and expand our knowledge of the Nordic region, the aim is also to pay attention to interplays in larger European and global processes.

While taking off from the Nordic welfare states, this journal hence also welcome contributions that expand the concerns to include research from a larger northern region, encompassing geographical locations (which through e.g. migration) are closely connected to the Nordic region.
