Abbreviation : Nord. J. Childlit Aesthet.
Aims & Scope
Nordic Journal of Childlit Aesthetics (BLFT) is a central forum for children's literature research in the Nordic region.
The journal was established in 2010, as the first literary research journal in the Nordic region developed for open access, and has a Nordic editorial board.
Children's literature has children and young people as its target group and has its own textual and research tradition that is in dialogue with, but also differs from, for example general literary studies.
Children's literature exists in both verbal and visual form and is published in various media.
The children's literature research community is therefore also interdisciplinary and cross-aesthetic.
BLFT aims to develop an interdisciplinary discussion about children's literature on the media, aesthetics, interaction with other art forms, institutional conditions and reception of children's literature, and to establish a Nordic and international research dialogue.
The journal publishes contributions that explore the aesthetics of children's literature in verbal, visual, analogue and digital media, and that discuss the view of art for children and children's literature in current political contexts.
BLFT publishes analytical and empirical articles, as well as articles related to special research programmes and projects.
As BLFT publishes both individual articles and articles included in thematic issues researchers are invited to submit individual contributions as well as respond to calls for papers.
The journal is aimed at everyone who is working with children's literature in the fields of aesthetics, verbal and visual art expressions and the institutional role of children's literature.
The languages of publication are Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and English.
