Aims & Scope
Nationalism & Ethnic Politics explores the varied political aspects of nationalism and ethnicity in order to develop more constructive inter-group relations, and to address the sources of both contemporary and historical identity-based conflicts.
The journal publishes case studies as well as comparative and theoretical analyses.
It welcomes articles from varying perspectives and different approaches, both qualitative and quantitative.
Nationalism & Ethnic Politics examines processes and theories of ethnic identity formation, mobilization, conflict and accommodation in the context of political development and what is commonly referred to as nation building.
It deals with pluralism, ethno-nationalism, irredentism, separatism, and related phenomena.
The journal compares and contrasts state and community claims, and deals with such factors as citizenship, race, religion, economic development, immigration, language, and the international environment.
Nationalism & Ethnic Politics aims to promote scholarship from diverse disciplines, as well as to advance wider public understanding of the subfield.
The journal seeks to include pieces by contributors whose first language is not English, as to be able to draw on the expertise that exists in this subfield in the world at large, while also ensuring that the articles published are accessible to a very diverse readership in the academy and beyond.
Four issues a year are published, and generally one of these is a special issue that focuses on a particular theme or case.
