Aims & Scope

Loisir et Société /Society & Leisure is a bilingual, multidisciplinary and thematic journal that publishes on leisure and free time with their relation to cultural, economic and social dimensions of individuals and communities.

These dimensions include family, the environment, communication, culture, governance, economy, public service, etc.

The journal has an open approach to the concept of leisure and its constant evolution.

That is why its production is built around themes that are constantly renewed and topical.

Its contents try to balance theoretical or fundamental work and empirical work.

From this point of view, the journal also serves the political and professional communities of leisure.

These are the distinctive characteristics of the journal and this is what allows the journal to reach readers in more than thirty countries and all continents.

Each thematic number is under the direction of at least one Guest Editor.

Each issue has four sections open to contributions: 1) Theme-related articles, 2) Non-thematic articles, 3) Research notes and 4) Book reviews.

The journal has identified some specific objectives: a) make its articles accessible to two scientific cultures (French and English), b) to serve the Québec, Canadian, and International scientific and professional communities, c) to plan the publication of different scientific themes, at least two in advance, d) ensure the participation of Canadian and International researchers in the preparation of its issues.
