The Journal of Southern History (ISSN 0022-4642) is published four times a year, in February, May, August, and November, by the Southern Historical Association, which has its editorial offices at the Department of History, Rice University and its administrative offices at the University of Georgia.

For eighty-five years, the Journal has published the best of southern history.
