Aims & Scope

We are entering an exciting post-genomic era of microbial physiological study employing classical as well as OMICS approaches, allowing an understanding of the microbe and its interactions from a holistic perspective.

Encompassing approaches may include physiology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, and the application of the entire range of OMICS and single cell technologies.

Their integration will allow a systems biology understanding of microbiology at a level never previously attained.

Contributions can range from pure culture studies to consortial and host-microbe interaction analyses as well as single intriguing reactions to the metabolic network level.

The scope also includes new routes for the development of innovative and sustainable biotechnologies.

In addition to original research articles, the journal features written symposia on selected topics, timely reviews and mini reviews.

Theoretical approaches, educational articles, description of novel microbiologically relevant methods (incl. software) are also welcome.
