Aims & Scope

The Journal of Liberty and International Affairs is a triannual (three regular issues per year), international, open-access, and peer-reviewed journal published by the Institute for Research and European Studies.

It follows a regular publishing schedule with the occasional addition of a special issue.

The Journal of Liberty and International Affairs publishes research articles, review articles and book reviews.

It serves as a comprehensive platform for the critical examination of liberty and international affairs, exploring both their individual dimensions and their interconnectedness while embracing diverse and opposing perspectives.

The journal welcomes contributions from disciplines such as law, political science, security studies, economics, and international relations, with a particular emphasis on innovative, critical, and forward-thinking research.

Its scope includes three interconnected areas: Liberty – Exploring political, civil, and economic freedoms, social justice, globalization, surveillance, and the philosophical foundations of freedom in modern societies.

International Affairs – Covering global governance, international law, security, human rights, migration, conflict resolution, and environmental diplomacy.

Intersections of Liberty and International Affairs – Examining the nexus between sovereignty, democracy, global governance, economic freedom, transnational advocacy, and cybersecurity.
