Information and communication technologies and new media have advanced dramatically over the last decade.
It has been an era of constant change.
From the paperless office and the information superhighway to nanotechnology and virtual learning environments these technologies continue to impact upon society, organisations, the environment and individuals.
Much can be learnt from this technological journey about the opportunities as well as the significant social and ethical risks that can arise.
It is vital that insight is provided into how we can harness the huge potential of future technological advances whilst avoiding the social and ethical risks.
The Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society has an important role in providing such insight into the social and ethical benefits and risks.
Drawing from a wide authorship it provides necessary interdisciplinary, culturally and geographically diverse insight necessary to understand the pervasive new media and information and communication technologies.
