Currently known as Journal of Dietary Supplements.

The Journal of Dietary Supplements (JDS) publishes original research studies relevant to dietary supplements, as defined per the U.S.

Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994 [108 Stat. 4325].

DSHEA defines the term "dietary supplement" as a product (other than tobacco) intended to supplement the diet that bears or contains one or more of the following dietary ingredients: a vitamin, a mineral, an herb or other botanical, an amino acid, a dietary substance for use by humans to supplement the diet by increasing total dietary intake, or a concentrate, metabolite, constituent, extract, or combination of the aforementioned ingredients.

A dietary supplement is intended for ingestion in the form of a tablet, capsule, soft-gel, powder, or liquid and NOT in the form of a conventional food (studies of individual foods or dietary patterns will be rejected).
