History of Education Quarterly (HEQ) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarship in the history of education as approached from a range of intersecting subfields in social, political, economic, intellectual, and cultural history.
It is the official journal of the leading professional society in the field in the United States, the History of Education Society.
Initially published from 1949-59 as the History of Education Journal, HEQ has been published continuously under its current name since 1961.
Topics related to the history of education (whether formal, non-formal or informal) are not limited to any region or time period.
