Aims & Scope

Health Behavior Research aims to advance policy, program planning, and practice relevant to behavior change by publishing scholarly works from basic and applied scientists.

Preference is given to works that rigorously apply, test, and inform efforts to revise, refine, or reject theoretical principles in health behavior research.

The journal focuses on publishing original research articles, current issues papers, commentaries, and abstracts that address the following areas:

• Theory refinement: Testing theoretical principles across diverse settings and populations, further developing processes that shape primary constructs, and addressing causal processes invoked by mediators and moderators.
• New and emerging concepts: Addressing new and emerging concepts and theory used in health behavior research, conceptual frameworks, methods, and analyses.
