Aims & Scope

This journal presents research into narrative intended in the widest possible sense.

It engages both with the more traditional forms of novels and romances (with their subgenres and different historical phases of development) and with fiction in the modern media, by focusing on processes of transcodification and genre hybridization.

Theatre, cinema, historiography, the discourses of science and journalism, down to cartoons and videogames are to be investigated in their own distinctive narrative codes and in their intertwining with traditional literary works and plots.

Combining its comparatist vocation with an interest in the works of English speaking cultures, «Fictions» includes articles in English, French and Italian.

It is mainly addressed to an international audience of academic scholars, but also to schoolteachers and students, and to all who are interested in the themes connected to narrativity and storytelling.

Every issue centres on a single topic, entrusted to a guest editor who invites international experts in the field and selects other scholars through call for papers in order to contribute original articles ranging from six to ten longer/shorter essays.
