Aims & Scope
We are delighted to announce that the European Journal for the History of Medicine and Health has been transformed into a fully open access journal as of January 2025.
All articles from the very beginning of EHMH’s predecessor Gesnerus in 1943 up to the current and the coming issues are freely available online.
This includes original articles as well as book reviews and any other form of contribution.
No APC (article processing charges) are required.
In their effort to make EHMH freely available online, Brill, the European Association for the History of Medicine and Health and the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences are supported by the Swiss Academy of Sciences, the Swiss Academy of Humanities, the Markus-Guggenheim-Schnurr Foundation for the History of Medicine and Sciences and several subscribing libraries.
The European Journal for the History of Medicine and Health (EHMH) is a double-blind peer-reviewed, international journal dedicated to all aspects of the history of medicine and health.
EHMH welcomes submissions from all regions and covering all eras of the history of medicine and health including social history, cultural history, history of ideas, material studies, science and technology studies, microstudies, ethnological and environmental approaches.
The journal publishes original articles, review articles, discussions, editorials, invited articles, book reviews, and regional or national focus articles on the history of medicine and health.
