Aims & Scope
Estudios de Historia Novohispana is a scientific journal published by the Instituto de Investigaciones Históricas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
It is a biannual publication (January-June, July-December) working under a double-blind peer review system.
The purpose of the journal is to disseminate original cutting-edge research on the history and culture of New Spain and of the territories ruled by the Spanish Crown in America and the Philippines, from the end of the fifteenth century to the first part of the nineteenth.
The journal publishes original research and critical reviews about relevant academic literature on this topic.
The majority of the articles published in it are rooted in the discipline of history; however, contributions of a different scientific orientation are also welcome, so long as they offer novel information regarding the journal’s subject of interest.
Estudios de Historia Novohispana seeks to be a vehicle for scientific communication between researchers whose work discusses Colonial Spanish dominions in America and the Philippines.
It intends to contribute to the construction and consolidation of a global academic community of specialists in the field.
Thus, Estudios de Historia Novohispana and the Instituto de Investigaciones Históricas of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México intend to fulfil their fundamental commitment of producing and, in this particular case, spreading scientific knowledge, under the strict principle that this shall be nothing but work of the highest academic quality, reviewed by peers, and with no restriction or ideological discrimination of any kind.
