Aims & Scope
Ecclesial Futures is an international, ecumenical and double-blind peer-reviewed open access journal that publishes high-quality, original research and theological reflection on the development and transformation of local Christian communities and the systems that support them as they join in the mission of God in the world.
We take an inter-disciplinary approach to theological research and reflection, incorporating core disciplines such as theology, missiology, and ecclesiology, as well as social science and theological disciplines like anthropology, ethnography, sociology, statistical research, biblical studies, leadership studies, and adult learning.
The journal fills a vital reflective space between the academy and on-the-ground practice within the field of mission studies, ecclesiology, and the so-called ‘missional church’. Our global audience includes local churches and the systems that support them, wherever they exist. We accept a range of article types, including original research papers, narrative or literature reviews, theological and missiological reflections, case study reports, conference papers, and book reviews.
