Its scope is the period from the Renaissance to the 1970s, in all countries where French language has been taught as a foreign or second language.

It deals with Historical aspects, issues regarding Linguistic and Educational policy, Foreign language theory, Acquisition, Teaching methods and Materials –grammar books, dictionaries, and bilingual works– as well as Institutions where French language has been taught, and authors who have made an impact in this area of research.
