Aims & Scope
Calidoscópio is a journal of Applied Linguistics in its broadest sense and thus not restricted only to topics revolving around language teaching and learning.
Its mission is to investigate both theoretical and empirical issues of language use in a variety of social contexts, recognizing and focusing precisely on the centrality of language in order to reach better understanding and possible solutions for those issues.
The scope of Calidoscópio is articulated with the understanding of Applied Linguistics as a multidisciplinary area whose focus is language in society.
Thus the knowledge produced is conceived as organized and identified more by the themes and contexts of investigation and application than by the theories and methodologies used in such investigations.
The journal is called Calidoscópio (Kaleidoscope) as a metaphor for the conception that multiple theoretical and methodological approaches can produce new interpretations and different proposals about language use, which, like in a kaleidoscope, result from various combinations of these domains.
Calidoscópio is a peer-reviewed journal published three times a year.
It is articulated with the areas of investigation of the Graduate Program in Applied Linguistics at the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos: (1) Language and School Practices; (3) Text, Lexicon and Technology; and (3) Interaction and Discursive Practices.
This way, each issue is dedicated to one of these research areas, being the three of them annually contemplated.
