Aims & Scope

Brünner Beiträge zur Germanistik und Nordistik (BBGN) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Masaryk University (Institute of German Studies, Nordic Studies and Dutch Studies, Faculty of Arts). It has been published twice a year since 2009.

The main goal of the journal is to contribute to research and expert discussion in the fields of Germanic, Dutch, and Nordic linguistics, literary studies, and intercultural studies. The journal focuses on traditional areas of linguistics, literary history, and literary theory, as well as social and cultural studies that take into account the relevant language areas. Contributions with a comparative focus are welcome, with a particular emphasis on Central European studies and research on mutual contacts and influences.

The journal publishes original contributions in German, English, Dutch, and Scandinavian languages. Thematic issues are dedicated to specific areas, such as literature and multilingualism, German as a foreign language, teaching of reals, pluricentrism, Dutch studies, and medieval studies, among others.
