Published by EDP Sciences
ISSN : 0990-7440 eISSN : 1765-2952
Abbreviation : Aquat. Living Resour.
Aims & Scope
Aquatic Living Resources publishes original research papers, review articles and propective notes dealing with all exploited (i.e. fished or farmed) living resources in marine, brackish and freshwater environments.
Priority is given to ecosystem-based approaches to the study of fishery and aquaculture social-ecological systems, including biological, ecological, economic and social dimensions.
Research on the development of interdisciplinary methods and tools which can usefully support the design, implementation and evaluation of alternative management strategies for fisheries and/or aquaculture systems at different scales is particularly welcome by the journal.
This includes the exploration of scenarios and strategies for the conservation of aquatic biodiversity and research relating to the development of integrated assessment approaches aimed at ensuring sustainable and high quality uses of aquatic living resources.
Subject areas include: - Genetic and physiological bases of life-history traits in aquatic animals and plants in response to human uses of aquatic ecosystems, including habitat modifications - Wild fish stock assessment and survey methodologies at multiple scales from stocks to whole communities - Evaluation of the impact on aquatic ecosystems of aquaculture production factors such as nutrition, reproduction or infectious diseases.
Studies focusing only on aquaculture production are discouraged - Indicators of changes in harvested ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental quality, including measures based on the status of living resources, ecosystem functioning and ecosystem services - Understanding of the economic, social and institutional drivers of uses of aquatic living resources, and evaluation of governance arrangements -Integrated modelling approaches to the development of scenarios and management strategy evaluations
