The "Anzeiger für Altertumswissenschaft" was founded in 1947 at the Institute of Classical Philology of the University of Innsbruck of o.

Dr.

Robert Muth was founded as a review magazine for the entire field of classical science.

Research reports on individual authors and fields have also been published at irregular intervals.

In the course of the progressive specialization and increasing number of publications in ancient studies, the journal is increasingly focusing on publication from the German-speaking world and is trying to give its readers the most comprehensive picture of the corresponding publication landscape as possible.

The focus is on the field of classical philology and ancient history.

Since 2020, the “Anzeiger für Altertumswissenschaft” has been published in digital form with free access (open access) and can be viewed in the “Digital Library” of the University of Innsbruck.

As a supplement, this contains the “didactic information”, which primarily enables the teachers of the Old Languages to find an easier orientation about the publication activities in the field of didactics.
