Aims & Scope
The Journal of Forest Science aims to inform and publish new research findings in all forest habitats of Iran, including Hyrkani, Zagros, Arsbaran, Irani-Turani, and Sahara-Sandi forests, as well as research related to the spruce genus for the use of everyone, especially forest specialists.
The journal covers various topics, including:
- Forest Ecology: relationship between the forest and environmental and climatic factors, forest species diversity, distribution and extent of forests and forest species, conservation status of forest species, biomass, carbon storage and Carbon sequestration, allometric equations, forest by-products, forest species decline, seeding areas and seed gardens, characteristics of old trees, forest species phenomenology, forest clearings, dry forests, forest evolutionary stages, stresses on forest species, intra-species and inter-species interactions, plant communities.
- Forestry of Seed-Bearing and Branch-Bearing Forests: breeding operations, seed production and regeneration of forest species, forestry methods.
- Management of Seed-Bearing and Branch-Bearing Forests: evaluation of different forestry plans, forest management methods, sustainable forest indicators and criteria, forest sampling methods, evaluation of quantitative variables of the mass such as ground cover, growth and standing stock, evaluation of the performance of hardwood species.
- Use of Remote Sensing Techniques and Geographic Information Systems in Forest Areas: measuring and monitoring the surface and extent of forests, determining lands prone to forest and spruce development, preparing species distribution maps, preparing fire maps and fire risk modeling, using drones in forest studies.
- Social and Economic Issues of Forests: economic valuation of forest goods and services, assessment of the status of livestock in the forest, indigenous knowledge related to the forest, alternative livelihoods, human-forest relationship.
- Technical-Engineering Sciences: road construction, forest road network, wood exploitation methods, various wood transportation systems, ergonomics, bioengineering and soil reinforcement.
- Forestry and Forest Nurseries: standards of forest seedlings, different methods of planting seeds and seedlings of forest species, adaptation of forest species, the effect of afforested species on the soil, rainfall storage systems in forestry, growth stimulating hormones, recreational values of forest parks.
- Forest Soils: physical-chemical and biological characteristics of forest soils, mutual effects of soil and forest species, soil microorganisms.
- Forest Genetics: evaluation of the genotype of forest species, genetic correlation and heritability of forest species, preservation of genetic reserves in cold conditions.
- Forest Policy: evaluation and introduction of superior poplar clans.
- Urban Forestry: species suitable for planting in urban green spaces, forest services and urban green spaces.
