I Rendiconti Online della Società Geologica Italiana hanno lo scopo di lasciare una memoria degli argomenti trattati e dei lavori scientifici presentati come "Short Notes" nei convegni e incontri organizzati dalla SGI, dalle sue Sezioni o da altre Associazioni scientifiche; dal 2008 ospitano anche articoli regolari (Research articles), con contributi scientifici delle geoscienze, di base ed applicate.

La pubblicazione dei lavori non prevede costi di pubblicazione ed è possibile inserire figure/immagini a colori.
