Aims & Scope

Parathyroid disease is the intersection between nephrology and endocrinology.

Parathyroid glands primarily interact with every body system.

Parathyroid disease is not uncommon since primary hyperparathyroidism is a comparatively widespread endocrine disorder, with a prevalence of one in seven individuals per 1000 cases.

Therefore, a journal devoted to all aspects of parathyroid disorders is necessary.

Accordingly, calcium abnormalities, diseases related to vitamin D disorders, magnesium and other electrolyte imbalance such as phosphorus and calcium imbalance, as well as bone disease across with joint disorders and related rheumatological diseases, are the subjects to be considered in this journal.

Since the thyroid is an adjacent endocrine organ to the parathyroid, we also consider the manuscripts of thyroid disease, which have a relationship with the parathyroid glands or are related to common thyroid diseases.

This journal considers manuscripts related to thyroid disease too.

In dialysis patients, parathyroid gland dysfunction and chronic kidney disease–mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD) are tightly related items; we, therefore, consider all manuscripts related to dialysis or chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal failure.

Parathyroid hormone (parathormone; PTH) also affects blood glucose concentration and has some connection with diabetes.

We also consider the manuscripts related to diabetes mellitus, which is associated with electrolyte imbalance and drug or hormonal dependence.
