Aims & Scope

Journal of Alloys and Metallurgical Systems (JALMES) is an international peer-reviewed, open access journal, focusing on the latest research comprising alloys, elemental metals and metallurgical systems.

Its great strength lies in the diversity of the disciplines which it encompasses, drawing together results from materials science, physics, solid-state chemistry, and metallurgy.

The interdisciplinary nature of the journal shows up in many subject areas, which comprise experimental and theoretical considerations of material problems requiring an active interplay between a variety of traditional and novel scientific disciplines.

The journal will especially encourage submissions dealing with metallic elements and alloys, including metallurgical processes, preparation, characterization, properties and their applications.

It will not consider topics on liquid alloys, wear, creep, welding and joining, ceramic and organic materials, polymers, coordination chemistry, ionic liquids, catalysis (excepting catalysis combined with microstructural analysis or further materials properties) and biochemistry; it will not consider papers reporting only synthesis without any properties, purely computational papers without sufficient experimental validation, CALPHAD papers without regard to experimental observations.

First principle calculations can only be accepted, if the system has already been proven in experiment or if this is required for a dedicated application.

Technical reports will not be accepted.
