The journal aims to be easily accessible, organizing its content by topic, both in print and online to provide scientific practical and professional support for clinicians dealing with alimentary tract disorders.

Topis include: Functional GI Disorders; the Liver; Pancreas Biliary tree; Esophagus, Stomach;Small Bowel, Colon, Inflammatory Bowel Disease; Endoscopy; Nutrition and Obesity; Pediatrics; Geriatrics, Morbidity.

Regular issues include articles describing novel mechanisms of disease and new management strategies, both diagnostic and therapeutic, likely to impact on clinical practice in the form of scientific reviews, and lectures, original studies, cases from clinical practice, guidlines.

Under the decision of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation dated February 19, 2010, the journal included in the "List of leading peer-reviewed publications in which the results of dissertations for the scientific degrees of a candidate and a doctor of medical sciences should be published."
