Aims & Scope

The journal serves as a resource for high impact innovations involving biomedical materials and devices, including recent developments in processing, benchtop evaluation, application-specific testing, clinical translation, and regulatory considerations.

In addition to fundamental research involving new types of metallic, ceramic, polymeric, and natural biomaterials, the journal considers manufacturing innovations and clinical translation of devices for the management of circulatory, digestive, endocrine, immune, muscular, nervous, renal, and skin conditions.

The journal also serves as a resource for advances in the chemical, mechanical, and biological performance of biomedical materials and devices.

The journal addresses interdisciplinary topics that lie at the forefront of research into new types of biomedical materials and devices, including nanostructured biomaterials, biosensors, drug delivery devices, medical electronics, engineered tissues, and assistive devices.

Research themes would include, but are not limited to: - Materials & devices for the diagnosis and/or treatment of circulatory, digestive, endocrine, immune, muscular, nervous, renal, and skin conditions; - Materials & devices for drug development, controlled release, and vaccine delivery; - Micro/nano fluidic, microelectromechanical (MEMs) devices, and nanoelectromechanical (NEMs) devices for point of care and other applications; - Processing, characterization, manufacturing, and modeling of biomedical materials; - Microstructured and nanostructured sensors and other electronic devices for medical applications; and - Regulatory considerations related to new types of medical devices
